NEW MEMBERS
These are exciting times for El Paraiso members and visitors. Very visible improvements have been made to the Course in the last few years. An influx of new members has brought fresh energy to all the Club’s golfing and social activities; indeed, many of them manage to play five or even six times a week!
The Club started with a strong British and Irish base, but increasingly there is a more international feel. Our indefatigable Lady Captain, Tricia Lawton, is our first Captain from the USA. Our incoming Men’s Captain, Phillipe Molhant, is our first from Belgium. Of the fourteen new shareholder members in the first two months this year, eight are from continental Europe, (2 Swedish, 2 Danish, 2 Swiss,1 German and 1 Dutch), five from England and one from Ireland.
We have been asking our new recruits what it is that has attracted them to join this Club. First and, most important, they really like the layout of the Course. Many welcome the fact that it is an easy course to walk together with the ambience created by the views, the features of its lakes, rock walls and the decorative flowerbeds! However, a close second is the opportunity offered to play in so many competitions; the serious and the social golfer are both well catered for here. This is possible because we are a true members’ club, owned by and run by and for the members.
How do you decide when to play? If you just want to play with friends outside a competition, a generous number of tee times are reserved for members, and you can book on-line up to two weeks in advance. On Mondays and Fridays, if you want to play early, choose the EPIC competition; prefer a later start? Opt for the men’s or ladies’ mixture of competitions. On Wednesday there is the morning Club competition open to all; Saturday sees the Men’s white tee and the Ladies’ yellow tee pairs scrambles; Sundays offers the very popular and sociable mixed Texas Scramble. For all these, you can simply enter up to two weeks ahead; you do not necessarily have to find someone to play with; the draw is made and you check the website or at the club for your tee time. And then, if that is not enough for you, put your name down to play in some of the many matches played by the ladies, the men and mixed pairs with clubs all along the coast.

Hi, I am in the process of buying an apartment in Selwo. I would like to join a golf club to play in competitions and meet people. However because of brexit rules I am limited to the amount of time I can spend in Spain. Do you have a country membership for people that don’t live in Spain that allows them to play when they are visiting the country.
